Starve

Text by Thalia Forbes

People need to eat- they are just hungry all the time. At LINE, even as our pages runneth over with provocative young talent, the frenzy for visual art, literature, music, fashion and every other inspired energy endures. So, to satiate, we STARVE. Taking the form of a digital dinner-salon, Starve seeks to cultivate what you, we, he, she, and they hunt the blogosphere atmosphere for, online and off. It’s no longer enough to see the work, or even to hear what a maker has to say about their process and objects. You, we, he she and they want to know the color and texture of the cultural soothsayers’ heard voice, the timbre of their gait, how they hang their party hats, their favorite dance move and if they fidget or feint. The virtual reality is to be developed to the precipice of organic reality, and then rolled back again. Creepy? Maybe. Why? Who cares! I say give the people what they want. Every Starve will gather together several young talents around a dinner table to discuss their experiences as striving, thriving thinkers and artists, then we’ll get the whole thing on video so LINE readers make the guest list. Each Starve will also include a guest host to moderate the conversation, invite other featured guests, and spend a little longer speaking with LINE editors. Please write us to suggest guests, menu, dinner music and tell us how you’ve enjoyed dinner…let the hunt begin!

STARVE with Host, Santiago Mostyn

LINE: Thanks for hosting the dinner and inviting a few awesome friends. What about their work or friendships suggested them as salon guests?
